Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) proudly joins organizations across the nation in observing Take a Child to Work Day on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

This national campaign provides students with a meaningful opportunity to explore the world of work by accompanying a parent, guardian or other adult to their workplace. During the experience, students can observe daily responsibilities, meet co-workers, and learn about the skills and education required for a variety of careers.

Take a Child to Work Day is open to students in grades 2 through 12 and is designed to inspire curiosity about career possibilities while helping students connect classroom learning with real-world applications.

The 2026 theme, “Take a Child to Work Day and Beyond – The Future is @ Work,” encourages students to think about their future goals and the many pathways available to achieve them. Through hands-on exposure and conversations with working professionals, students gain valuable insight into career fields that may spark their interests and aspirations.

“Take a Child to Work Day is an opportunity for students to see the possibilities that await them beyond the classroom,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn. “When students engage with professionals and observe the workplace firsthand, they gain valuable insight into how education, skills and determination can open doors to future career success.”

The observance is coordinated by BCPS Career, Technical, Adult and Community Education Department (CTACE) within the Office of Academics, which continues to expand opportunities for students to engage in career exploration, workforce readiness and real-world learning experiences.

Schools and families are encouraged to participate in this annual initiative by helping students connect with professionals and workplaces that highlight the many career possibilities available throughout Broward County.
