Florida Department of Education
The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has changed the direction on inclusion of the U.S. History EOC in student grades. Per the FDOE, the 2012-13 ninth grade cohort is the first cohort for whom the requirement that the U.S. History EOC must count as 30% of the student's grade applies. All other students will have their course grades computed without the EOC.
Semester Grades
Important information regarding changes to semester grades for all students who were administered district midterm exams:
A comprehensive review of the data associated with the 2011-2012 administrations of Algebra 1, Geometry, and Biology midterms to middle school and high school students; and the 2012-2013 administrations of the Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology, and U.S. History midterms has led to a decision to eliminate from the calculation of semester averages, student midterm exam scores that adversely affected the student's quarter one/quarter two average, as assigned by their classroom teacher. Information and Technology will be making the adjustment for each school. Click here for more information.
